    Remittance of contributions to ETF
 

If the employer has less than 15 employees contributions should be paid under ETF R4 form & the member details are filled in the same form.

If the employer has 15 or more employees contributions should be paid under ETF R1 form and the member details should be sent every six months on a separate return called the Form II return.  When filling member details the correct name according to the NIC, NIC No. and the correct member no. and the contribution should be filled.

Note:

Please note that the same member no. cannot be given to two employees.
 
   Registration of Members
 

An employee is entitled to membership in the ETF from the first day of his employment.  It is the employers’ responsibility to sent contributions to the ETF on behalf of the employee and it is also the employees’ responsibility to persuade him to do so.

Who is eligible for membership?

The nature of the job is irrelevant.  All employees are entitled to membership whether they are permanent, temporary, apprentice, casual or shift workers.  Employees working on piece rate, contract basis, work performed basis or any other manner what so ever are eligible for membership.

Forms to be filled for membership
These are no forms to be filled for membership like in the case of EPF

Once the employee is registered with the EPF, contributions can be sent under such EPF No. in respect of the employees.  Employers who have their private provident funds can send contributions under private Provident Fund nos.

 
   Account Amalgamation
 

No amalgamation of  accounts under different employers is done as in the case of EPF.

Amending Member names  

The following  steps should be taken depending on the nature  of the amendments

A letter from the employer confirming the old or incorrect name and the new or correct name with a proof of identity should be send to the  under mentioned officers
 
If  contributions are paid by remittance forms R1 & details are sent on Form II returns to Manager-Member Accounts(Larger Category)
If contributions are paid by remittance forms R4 to Finance Manager-Member Accounts (Smaller Category)
If the previous employer is no longer active, a letter from the Grama Sevaka of your area, confirming your name, certified by the Divisional Secretary
In the case of a total name change, all contribution details should be sent along with the letter of request.
For changes due to marriage, or change in birth certificate, the copies of all birth/marriage certificates and legal documents certified by the employer should be sent, in the event of the previous employer no longer being active, a letter from the Grama Sevaka of your area, confirming your name, certified by the Divisional Secretary.

Amending the NIC number

A letter from the employer confirming the name, old NIC number, new NIC number and the reason for change, should be sent.  In addition to this  where necessary a written confirmation from the Grama Sevaka or Registrar of Persons is required.  Since the change of NIC number is critical proper documentation should be sent along with the request.

When applying for housing loans
When proving account balances
