"Nipunatha Saviya" Benefit Scheme

We are pleased to inform you that the Board of Directors of the Employees’ Trust Fund Board has decided to implement in a new appearance the financial assistance scheme it granted to the children of the members of the ETFB who have sat the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination from the year 2023 onwards.

Accordingly, with effect from the year 2023, the children of the active members of the ETFB who sat for G.C.E. (Advanced Level) Examination in December 2025 for the year 2025 will be provided with financial assistance under this new Benefits Scheme subject to a maximum of  Rs.50,000.00 to follow a course of study having recognition at the level 3, 4 and 5 of the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) conducted by the vocational training institutes registered under the National Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission.

⛛ Basic Qualifications

  • Should be a student who sat for the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination for the year 2025. (Passing the examination is not essential)
  •  
  • School candidates as well as children not more than 23 years of age who have appeared for the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination as external candidates may apply for the benefit.

  • The mother / father / guardian should be an active member of this fund when the respective student sat for the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination (December 2025) Accordingly, in order to submit the applications for the year 2025, payment of contributions should have been made continuously on behalf of the relevant member from the month of January 2025 to the month of December 2025.

For payment of this benefit for children of active members registered under self-employment, relevant contributions should have been paid continuously over a period of approximately 36 months preceding the month of the said examination.

⛛ Payment of course fees

Following the submission of the relevant certificates/documents to us upon successful completion of the course, the payment of the course fees will be made under the following methods.
The course registration fee is payable by you and is non reimbursable.

1. Payment of course fees directly to the Vocational Training Institute Following our Board’s confirmation of your application as an eligible one, you are required to select a recognized vocational course (at NVQ level) listed herein and register yourself with an approved institute where you wish to pursue such a course of study. Upon submission of the documents related to such registration, our Board will issue a Guarantee Letter having regard to the payment of course fees to the institute concerned. Upon successful completion of the course, the course fee subject to a maximum limit of Rs.50,000/- will be paid by our Board to the vocational training institute concerned.
2. Reimbursement of course fees to the students If the course fee has been paid to the training institute by the relevant student and the course of study has already been commenced, the amount of fees will be reimbursed to the particular student on submission of the proof of the said payment upon successful completion of the course. The bank account details of the student should be provided to us when submitting the application for the purpose.

Students, even if they have followed one of our approved course shaving appeared for the Advanced Level Examination 2025  before receiving the results thereof, may also apply for this benefit.

⛛ Method of Application

The online application consists of 3 main parts:
• Part I : Particulars of the student.
• Part II : Personal information and employment details of mother / father / guardian.• Part III : Details of the present employer of mother / father / guardian. Other supportive documents are also available for upload.

Applying for the Benefits

1. Before completing the online application form, the form that must be completed by the employer should be downloaded. (EMP form)
2. It shall be correctly completed by the current employer.3. Scan the completed employer application (EMP form) along with the supportive documents.
Supportive Documents Required to Avail of These Benefits

1. The application completed and certified by the present employer.
2. A clear photocopy of the National Identity Card of the student.
3. A clear photocopy of the birth certificate of the student.
4. A clear photocopy of the student’s result sheet (to be downloaded from the official website of the Department of Examinations).
5. A clear photocopy of the National Identity Card of the respective member.
6. If the application is made by a guardian (and not by the mother or father), documents necessary to prove legal custody must be submitted.
7. Documents numbered 2 to 6 must be certified by the present employer, Grama Niladhari, a lawyer, or a Justice of the Peace, and copies of the said documents must also be uploaded along with the application.
8. If there is a discrepancy between the name of the mother / father / guardian on the student’s birth certificate and the name on the member’s National Identity Card, a letter from the employer certifying that both names refer to the same person must be submitted.
9. If there is a discrepancy between the name stated in the member’s National Identity Card and the name in the Form II records, a letter from the employer certifying that all such names refer to the same person must be submitted.
10. A PDF file must be created after scanning the above documents.
11. The PDF file should be renamed using the National Identity Card number of the child.
12. To access the online application, visit www.etfb.lk and click on Nipunatha Saviya Benefits Scheme. Complete the benefits application consisting of three (3) parts and finally upload the PDF file you created.

The information contained in the submitted application and the particulars of the relevant contribution payments will be verified against our records. Applicants will be informed of their eligibility for these benefits via an electronic letter (e-mail) or short message (SMS).
