⛛ Basic Eligibility Criteria:
- ⛛ The student must have sat for the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination in 2024 and been selected and registered at a university.
- ⛛ Both school and external candidates who sat for the Advanced Level Examination and are under the age of 23 are eligible to apply for this benefit.
- ⛛ At the time of sitting for the Advanced Level Examination (February 2023), the parent/guardian must have been an active member of the Employees’ Trust Fund. To apply for this benefit in 2023, contributions must have been continuously paid from February 2023 to January 2024 on behalf of the member.
- ⛛ For children of active members registered under self-employment, contributions must have been continuously paid for the 36 months proceeding the month of the examination. (From February 2019 to January 2024)
- ⛛ If both parents are members of the fund, only one parent should submit the application.
- ⛛ If the student has already received a grant for a vocational training course, this grant is not applicable.
⛛ Application Procedure:
Applications for this benefit must be submitted online only. You can complete the online application form by visiting the official website of the Employees’ Trust Fund Board at www.etfb.lk and navigating to the Vishwa Yathra page.
The online application consists of two main sections:
- ⛛ Section 1: Information about the student
- ⛛ Section 2: Personal details and employment information of the parent/guardian and document uploads
⛛ Documents Required for the Online Application:
- 1. Application form completed and certified by the current employer.
- 2. Clear photocopy of the student’s National Identity Card (NIC).
- 3. Clear photocopy of the student’s birth certificate.
- 4. Clear photocopy of the student’s exam results, which must be downloaded from the official website of the Department of Examinations.
- 5. Clear photocopy of the member’s NIC.
- 6. A bank account statement with the student’s name, account number, and branch clearly indicated.
- 7. A letter issued by the University Grants Commission confirming that the student has qualified for university admission.
(Documents from points 2 to 5 must be certified by the current employer or Grama Niladhari or an attorney or a justice of the peace.)
- 8. If the application is being submitted by a guardian (not the parent), legal documents proving guardianship must be provided.
- 9. If there is a name discrepancy between the parent/guardian listed on the student’s birth certificate and the member’s NIC, the employer must certify that all the names refer to the same individual.
- 10. If there is a name discrepancy between the member’s NIC and the names listed in the Form II reports, the employer must certify that all names refer to the same individual.
⛛ Steps to Apply for the Benefit:
- 1. Download the employer application form (EMP Form) from the official website.
- 2. Have the EMP Form completed by the parent/guardian’s current employer.
- 3. Scan all required documents, including the completed EMP Form, and compile them into a single PDF file.
- 4. Rename the PDF file using the student’s NIC number.
- 5. Visit the www.etfb.lk website, navigate to the Vishwa Yathra Financial Assistance program, complete the two-part online application form, and upload the PDF file you created.
